Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s donates $50,000 for Hurricane Ida relief efforts

Thousands of ready-to-eat meals, water bottles to be
distributed in Louisiana Gulf region by Convoy of Hope

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is partnering with Convoy of Hope, an international disaster-response organization, to bring $50,000 in aid and supplies to the Louisiana Gulf region stricken by Hurricane Ida.

The outdoor retailer is donating 3,300 individual ready-to-eat meals and 15,000 bottles of water and working with Convoy of Hope to distribute the goods in the New Orleans region. Both headquartered in Springfield, Mo., Bass Pro Shops and Convoy of Hope have been partnering together to provide relief for more than 20 years.

Hurricane Ida made landfall on Aug. 29 and was the second-most intense hurricane on record to strike Louisiana. Severe damage and widespread flooding led to nearly all of New Orleans losing electricity, with about 1 million people in Louisiana left without power.

Supporting Team Members in the Region

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is also providing direct support for its Outfitters impacted by the storm and its aftermath. All full-time and part-time Outfitters at Bass Pro Shops locations in Gonzales and Denham Springs received recovery grants to assist with food replenishment and supplies for storm cleanup. Ahead of the storm, the company’s Base Camp headquarters team worked to ensure that the Gonzales and Denham Springs stores had a supply of generators available for Outfitters as well.

Outfitters with significant home damage or other emergency needs are also eligible for additional support from the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Cares Fund, an emergency relief fund the company established to support Outfitters impacted by unexpected hardship. The fund provides one-time grants to help Outfitters pay for housing, utility bills, medical expenses, home repairs and other eligible expenses.

Commitment to Communities in Need

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s plays an active role in the communities it serves, including assisting in disaster relief efforts. Those efforts include:
