Community Commitment

Honoring military and veterans

Bass Pro Shops has a strong affinity for the armed forces and their families, a value that starts with our visionary founder Johnny Morris. His lifelong respect and gratitude to servicemen and women was strongly shaped by his father, John A. Morris, a decorated World War II veteran who proudly served his country in the Battle of the Bulge. There is no adequate way to properly thank our military and veterans, but we strive to honor their sacrifices and celebrate their heroism every day.

Supporting Our Heroes

Actively recruiting veterans to join our team

Bass Pro Shops has a longstanding commitment to hiring veterans, and nearly 10 percent of our team members are veterans. We’re partnering with organizations including Hiring our Heroes to actively recruit veterans, service members and military spouses to join our team. We’re honored to welcome these heroes to the Bass Pro Shops team and we’re committed to providing them with ongoing support, resources and leadership development as they transition from military life to our company. Providing homes for our heroes

To thank those who risked everything for our freedom, we’re partnering with Helping a Hero to award specially adapted homes to American heroes wounded in service to their country. Bass Pro Shops pledged to donate 10 homes and cover 25 percent of the funding for an additional 100 donated homes, encouraging Americans to get involved in Helping a Hero’s Wounded Hero Home Program.

Connecting Veterans to the Healing Power of Nature

Each year, we host unforgettable events that help veterans enjoy the tranquility of fishing, bond with each other, and experience the healing power of nature. From our Fishing Dreams event on Table Rock Lake to partnering with Project Healing Waters in the Florida Keys, we’re grateful to provide access to therapeutic outdoor recreation for the heroes who have given so much for us.

Honoring their sacrifices

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is proud to partner with our customers to support Folds of Honor, a renowned nonprofit organization that pays tribute to the profound sacrifice of fallen and disabled servicemen and women. To honor their sacrifices, we donated $300,000 to Folds of Honor for the funding of at least 20 life-changing scholarships for the spouses and children of fallen and disabled service members.

Legendary Salute Military Appreciation Discount

We’re proud to offer an everyday discount in stores and online to active military and veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps plus the National Guard and reserves. Click here for more information.

Commemorating Their Sacrifices

Establishing an Enduring Tribute

To ensure future generations never forget the men and women who sacrificed everything for our freedom throughout our nation’s history, we proudly donated $2 million to establish Patriots Park, a series of memorials including the Vietnam War Memorial, Gold Star Families Memorial and Korean War Memorial at the College of the Ozarks campus in nearby Hollister, Missouri.

Creating a Trail of Honor

In partnership with Ozark Greenways, Bass Pro supported the development of the Trail of Honor through the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in our hometown of Springfield, Missouri. Winding along the serene James River valley, this portion of the trail is a contemplative place to honor our veterans who have served in all of our nation’s military branches.

Showcasing Courage

Wonders of Wildlife proudly hosted Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, a powerful exhibition highlighting America’s military veterans in 2018. Featuring 66 full-color portraits and a four-panel mural painted by former President George W. Bush, the work depicts service members and veterans who have served since 9/11 and whom the President has come to know personally since leaving office. The opening marked the collection’s first major display ever exhibited outside the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas.
