Bass Pro Shops celebrates Ducks Unlimited with October round up campaign

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Oct. 2, 2017 – Bass Pro Shops is providing customers a chance to support Ducks Unlimited (DU) throughout October. Thanks to a round up campaign at all Bass Pro Shops locations across the U.S. and Canada, customers are invited to donate their change to help DU’s mission of conserving North America’s continually disappearing waterfowl habitats.

Customer round up donations will support DU’s conservation efforts across North America. DU will receive 100 percent of the money customers donate at the cash register, and Bass Pro Shops will make a contribution at the end of the month, matching 50 percent of the donated total.

“DU Month is but one more way Bass Pro Shops Founder Johnny Morris and his staff at Bass Pro Shops support conservation and the Ducks Unlimited mission,” said DU CEO Dale Hall. “His generosity has put DU in front of tens of thousands of outdoorsmen and women across the country. The fact that Bass Pro is such a strong supporter of DU’s mission speaks volumes about the company and their commitment to conservation.”

In addition to conservation round up month, Bass Pro Shops supports Ducks Unlimited on the racetrack by donating special DU paint schemes commemorating the partnership on Bass Pro Shops-sponsored race cars. Recently, Martin Truex Jr. drove the No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/Ducks Unlimited Toyota under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops/NRA Night Race.

Noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder/CEO Johnny Morris also donated funds to the construction of the Ducks Unlimited National Waterfowling Heritage Center, a free wetlands and waterfowl conservation museum, inside the iconic Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee.

Last year’s DU Month raised nearly $100,000 for wetlands and waterfowl conservation delivery. Since its inception in 2007, the program has raised nearly half a million dollars for conservation.

Johnny Morris has made giving back to conservation a hallmark of Bass Pro Shops since he first began selling fishing tackle in the back of his dad’s liquor store in 1972. Over the course of several decades, Morris has dedicated himself to inspiring everyone, especially youth and families, to enjoy, love and conserve the great outdoors. One way that Bass Pro Shops works on behalf of conservation is by supporting the efforts of nonprofit conservation organizations that share a desire to tackle key conservation initiatives such as fish and wildlife habitat improvements, conservation and outdoor skills education, improving the quality of our lakes, rivers and springs, and conservation advocacy.
